About me
Dhârana Yoga, María de Dueñas Lopez
I am a yoga teacher, dancer and dance pedagogue. I started practicing Iyengar Yoga in 2006 as part of my dance education and continued studying and discovering other styles after that always in parallel to my dance career. I obtained my diploma as a Hatha Yoga Teacher by Escuela Internacional de Yoga (Yoga Alliance, European Yoga Federation, Spanish Federation for professional Yoga).
In my teaching I join the principles of Hatha yoga with some touches of Iyengar yoga. I complement my classes inspired by other somatic, therapeutic and anatomical practices such as BMC (Body Mind Centering) and fasciapulsology as well as many information coming from my dancing activities.
I love about Hatha yoga the energetic coherence as well as the inspiration that comes from the knowledge conserved in more traditional series like the series of Rishikesh. From Iyengar yoga I enjoy deeply the very refined and enriched approach to asana and alignment.
In my classes I guide the students to develop a higher awareness of their bodies and their possibilities, always without pushing, making the practice safe and allowing them to increase the understanding of their own personal path in yoga practice. In this conception we always have in mind that the practice of yoga is a medium to access meditation already from the simple practice of asanas. This means that the aim of our practice is not a perfect posture but to work with the state of mind that allows us to keep concentrated and opened within the challenges of each asana.
I taught yoga at Monster Ronson Berlin and JSKD Slovenia, RITCS Brussels, El Horno Madrid, Cie Tabea Martin Switzerland, The Lab Brussels, as a guess teacher of Naomi Cook in Maison du Quartier Malibran, private classes, private classes in company CEOE and as replacement teacher in Yyoga. Yoga for kids in ABC (Art Basis for Children) in Brussels and Lope de Vega School in Madrid. I´m currently engaged in an education of prenatal and postnatal yoga. I developed a high interests in restorative yoga following a self research and practice.
